Specialised Classes
All our classes are free of charge for New Zealand residents and citizens.
Empowering Families
Empowering Families classes are English classes for parents and caregivers who have children under 5. Free childcare is provided so that looking after children is not a barrier to attendance for anyone. These classes are usually held on the premises of a primary school or Plunket Rooms, and have a loose focus on topics like understanding school permission slips for children, making doctors appointments and more.
Intermediate English
The Intermediate English classes are targeted at learners that have a much higher level of English than our 2B General English students, and are interested in improving their everyday English skills. This course focuses on topics such as how to read letters and emails, how to give instructions to tradespeople at home, how to engage with parent-teacher interviews and healthcare providers.
English through Sewing
This is our newest class, having just launched in Porirua in Term 4 2019. English for Sewing provides English language support through the medium of learning to sew. The class has been designed for learners with very low levels of English, and is co-taught by a qualified ESOL Teacher, and a Sewing Teacher.
Kiwi English
Our Kiwi English classes are run on a Saturday morning, and are best suited for those with relatively high levels of English. In these classes we learn common slang and colloquialisms. and how to communicate with your Kiwi mates at work as well as socially.
Seniors English
Our Seniors English classes are a huge hit with those over 60. We provide a great learning environment for those learners who are on the senior side of life, but who's passion for learning is still strong, and who want to keep those neurons firing. This class suits learners of all abilities, from no English at all, to very good.
Beginner Computer Class
Aimed at beginner users, our Computer Classes support students to understand the basic commands of using computers. We support learners to navigate the internet, Microsoft Word and other simple computer programs. We also teach students how to use social media platforms to stay in touch with friends at home, as well as online safety.
Learner Drivers License
Always popular, our Saturday morning Learner Driver License classes support learners to gain the necessary knowledge and skills they need to pass their Learner License tests. We have high success rates in this class, with most students going on to successfully learn the Road Code and get their license.
