Help Finding a Job

We can support you if

  • You are a migrant or former refugee
  • English is not your first language
  • You are registered with Work and Income
  • You have left school
  • You are looking for professional, skilled or unskilled work

How we support you

At your first appointment, your employment coach will ask you about yourself, the kind of work you can do and the kind of job you want. You will also identify the areas that need to be developed to be successful in your job search. Together you will agree on an action plan and set some clear and achievable goals.

You will then meet regularly with your Employment Coach, working together to create a tailored CV, develop your job-search skills, practice interview skills and how to present yourself, and keep track of your job searching efforts. This helps you stay motivated and engaged in reaching your goals.

We understand that the amount of time it takes to find a job varies from person to person. We will stay in touch with you until you get a job, and you can ask for more meetings whenever you need them.

Your employment coach will support you through the application and hiring processes, help you to understand contracts and your rights and responsibilities as an employee. Once in a job, your employment coach will continue to stay in touch with you for the first few months, so that you can discuss anything about the job that is worrying you or ask for help to sort out a problem.

From MCLaSS to KiwiClass In November 2019 we changed our name - a move that was decided by our students, and for our students. For nearly 25 years we have been known as MCLaSS, Multicultural Learning and Support Services. After extensive consultation with our students, we found that most didn't know what MCLaSS stood for, and that they had no personal connection to the name. After a lot of discussion and feedback, we asked our students and clients to vote on a new name and a new logo. The results were clear: our new name would be KiwiClass. Our students report that the new name makes them feel more welcome, and like a real member of their new home. We are excited to welcome you to KiwiClass!
